Client Testimonials
He listened carefully to everything I was concerned about regarding inheritance and explained it all in a way that was easy to understand. Even for matters beyond the inheritance tax itself, he looked into the details and offered helpful suggestions, which made a real difference. The whole process went smoothly, and I was able to leave everything in his hands with complete peace of mind. He was genuinely attentive throughout, and I’m truly glad I chose this office. Thank you very much.
I knew nothing about inheritance and was anxious about the whole process, but he put together a clear, detailed summary of what to prepare and how things would proceed, which was a huge help. He even explained the smoothest way to get everything ready, which made dealing with government offices and banks much easier. Knowing I could reach out and talk things through whenever I needed also gave me real peace of mind.
Fees
Inheritance Tax Filing
From ¥330,000
Filing Fee Formula
¥330,000 + 0.55% of Japan-based assets + 1.1% of overseas assets
A retainer of ¥100,000 is due upon signing, with the remaining balance due before the return is filed.
About These Fees
- Fees are calculated using the total asset value before applying debts, tax-free allowances, the spousal tax reduction, the small-scale residential land exception, or other deductions.
- Japan-based and overseas assets are classified according to the location (situs) of the asset under Japan's Inheritance Tax Act.
- The fee for overseas assets includes the standard document review, valuation, and yen conversion required for the Japanese inheritance tax filing.
- If an heir resides outside Japan, an additional fee of approximately ¥55,000 per person may apply, depending on the procedures required.
- For real estate, unlisted shares, cryptocurrency, trusts, or other assets (in Japan or overseas) that require valuation or investigation beyond our standard review, a separate quote will be provided.
- Translation, notarization, apostille certification, fees for local professionals, and overseas tax filing or inheritance procedures are not included.
- An additional fee may apply if the filing deadline is close, or if the case requires more research or verification than usual.
